Hi everybody,
WOW Janice ! You’ve whetted my appetite yesterday with your Easter delicious recipes ;-). I couldn’t help to compose a menu… let us say for a festive light supper, with some of my favourite dishes.
Here it is:
I remember to have tasted such an unforgettable soup at the Inn of Chapelhill which is a lovely old white inn, situated near Green Acres, a marvellous B & B where we had found accommodation for the night, in June 2000.
Smoked haddock salad with poached eggs & croûtons served with colourful ‘petits légumes’ and (or) a few golden chips…
Baked Alaska… oh YES! The famous ‘Omelette Norvégienne’ as we call it in France, but ‘à la Scottish style’… for if it is not a traditional Scottish recipe, it is a favourite one in Scotland ! hmmmmmmmm… Bon appétit! By the way didn’t we say we would introduce a Scottish recipe category on Scotiana ?
Today is April Fool’s Day, so let us forget bad weather and morosity for a few moments. I’ve just discovered The Whisky River Boat Band and their ‘joie de vivre’ is truly catching! Let us follow the mucisians on the Scottish road… the first video dates back to April 1st 2012 and was shot in Scotland on the road from Edinburgh to North Berwick and its area. It’s very joyful and funny, just in keeping with the mood of the April Fools’Day 😉
The Whisky River Boat Band – file under “Adventure Folk” – Bringing the spirit of the Rivers, Mountains and Seas to your door and back again.
The Whisky River Boat Band originally came together for a canoe powered musical odyssey down the Spey River. The trip involved the 5 piece acoustic band canoeing 65 miles down the Spey (the fastest flowing river in Scotland) and stopping every now and again to play a gig, drink whisky, maybe eat some food and possibly sleep. Amazingly the band survived as did most of the instruments, the gigs were great and the craic was mighty so now into the future they travel. The band has a unique country and bluegrass acoustic sound that is able to bring a tear to the eye as well as your feet to the dance floor.
And to end this post on a giggle here’s Google’s April Fools’Day joke. 😉

Enjoy! A bientôt. Mairiuna
