Hi from Scotland 😉
YES, we’ve already been in this wonderful country for a number of days now but time flies so quickly that we didn’t see them pass!
We’ve just arrived at our new hotel which is situated on the shore of the lovely Loch Lynnhe. It’s pitch dark outside while I’m trying to send you a few pictures of our first days in la Belle Alba. I would never have imagined it would be so difficult to communicate though, actually, it’s not surprising given the fact that we’re always moving from place to place, driving from south to north and from east to west in the country. Moreover, days seem so short at this time of the year. Night falls at about 4:00 pm! It’s the first time we travel in Scotland in that season and we find rather hard to adapt to the winter rhythm of life. Our computer seems to find it still more difficult… only our mascotts don’t seem to feel any difference 😉
Here are just a “meli-melo” selection of the pictures we’ve already taken during our trip. I will send you more later… next year, in 2020… which means very soon!
First of all, the Saltire proudly fluttering in the winter wind…
And here, the magnificent view of Edinburgh which one can get, on a sunny day, from the top of Salisbury Crags. As you can see, it’s well worth the effort of climbing up there… not too difficult a walk in fact, and not too tiring for our wee teddy bears who much enjoyed the trip from their comfortable sitting place in my backpack 😉
We spent an unforgettable Christmas in Edinburgh Royal Botanic Garden, walking around the place in a fairytale atmosphere!
Truly magical!
Look! A “clash of time” in Edinburgh Christmas market: the exhilarating and hair-raising “Star Flyer”, quite emblematic of our times, versus the austere, old gothic 19th century Scott Monument…one of the most famous and venerated landmarks in Edinburgh…
In this romantic and truly enchanting place, we met our dear friends Iain and Margaret who had so kindly invited us to stay with them for three days! Three unforgettable days! We’ll tell you more about Thirlestane Castle and the time we spent with our friends in the Scottish Borders.
Petit détour through the Trossachs… a chilly day indeed with snow on the top of Ben Lomond!
The famous Milarrochy Bay by night… no aurora borealis, alas!
The famous Kelpies, also by night but still more beautiful in their changing colours than in broad daylight!
Like us, our little mascotts are waiting for…
The famous Harry Potter steam train… but it will never pass that day on the mythical viaduct. No train in winter! We’ll have to wait for it until next year.
By the way… la nouvelle année c’est pour bientôt… for us it will begin near Glencoe!
So, bonne année à tous et à très bientôt for more postcards from Scotland!
Mairiuna
Thank you for posting those great pictures. I may never get to go to Scotland, so, the pictures are my next best thing.
Many thanks Susan for your kind message. We’ve just come back from Scotland and I will soon post more pictures of this wonderful country 🙂
