Dear Friends and Readers,
⌛ Another year is gone…May the New Year 2022 bless you with health, peace, wealth and happiness!
Pretty much in all the largest cities of the world as in Scotland – Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Stirling and Inverness – all-night celebrations are traditionally held to welcome the New Year.
The Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations are among the largest in the world; 1996–97 were recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest New Years party, with approximately 400,000 people in attendance. Numbers were then restricted due to safety concerns.
Clearly, the 2021-2022 holiday season will be unlike any other in modern history and many Scottish Hogmanay festivities for the passing of time are cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
And while that might make us feel a little sad, let’s try not to let it get ourself down. Even though we can’t celebrate with some family members, or many friends, or by going out to a crowded bar or a concert venue, there are still plenty of fun (and covid-safe) ways we can spend Hogmany’s night.
As an example, grab your masks and hit the trails. You can do it alone or with some friends if you socially distance from one another. It may not be our typical way to celebrate, but it’ll still be fun and an adventure we can all have together. You can even plan it out so you can see the sunrise. Then, have a breakfast in bed. How great would that be to start your year off? Treat yourself to favorite foods and enjoy them in the comfort of your room while watching your favorite Netflix show. Let’s be creative and no matter what, have fun in the most simple and safe ways!
WE ARE ONE
You are heartfully invited to take a moment to experience a magical aerial light show from the re-release Fare Well series that reminds us that together We Are One!
Take care of yourselves and each other.
With much love and compassion,
From all of us at Scotiana,
